Sewing Plans 2020

One of the amazing things about being a fabric shop owner, is having access to all these amazing fabrics. But sometimes too much choice, makes it difficult to make a decision on the pattern and fabric combination.

Putting my sewing plans on paper, searching the depth of internet and Instagram for inspiration, is great way to focus and achieve my sewing plans. There are couple if skills that i want to learn along the way as well. We are in the month of July now, 5 months till end of 2020 so here goes my 5 sewing plans which i will document and share my journey with you.

Here are my chosen patterns and my inspirations.

Ellis & Hattie dress by Merchant & Mills

I love floaty dresses, than can be dressed up or down and that look great with trainers. It has lovely neck dart feature which makes it little bit different. It can be worn summer or winter with tights, so i can see myself not only wearing this dress a lot but also making more than one version. Here is my inspo:
  • Two tone Hattie version by jahtolly which is actually great way to use up some fabrics.
  • theotherchlo.ella made a bolt red colour version, which looks amazing.
  • charlottevictoriaturner has made an indigo version which is absolutely perfect for everyday.

Now, just need to decide do i go with a print, bold colour or more casual everyday colourway?

Dawn jeans by Megan Nielsen or Persephone Pants by Anna Allen

When it comes to jean pattern reviews, these two always comes to the top of the list. I have never made jeans or trousers, so there is a lot to learn in this pattern for me. My top 3 inspo:
  • Persephone pants by slowsewed. Doesn't she look amazing in everything?
  • Dawn jeans by very talented phoeberosita
  • Another Persephone pants by natalie_ebaugh. Natalie has made so many different colours of these and i love them all.

It is THE trend of this summer, but i am struggling to find a pattern that i like. I like the idea of shirring only on the back panel or front panel above bust going toward neckline. Do let me know if anyone knows of a suitable pattern. In the meantime, i will give this a go on a dress for my daughter first.

I found a super cute New Look 6610 pattern with a shirred back section and i have just the perfect fabric in mind for this.

Bias Cut Evie Skirt by Tessuti Fabrics

This style of a skirt is such a staple, it looks great with T-shirt, trainers, jumpers, super easy to wear, so it is definately going on my sewing list. I will make it in either Tencel or Ecovero as i love how it drapes, just not sure if i should make it in plan colour or go bold with a print. Hope the inspiration will strike soon, in the meantime, here is my top 3 inspo:

Ida blouse by Ikatee Couture in Jersey

Of my goals is to start making more with jersey. One of the great things about a 3 year old, is that you need very little fabric, so this is my perfect opportunity to practice this pattern. But if anyone interested, Ikatee Couture do offer this pattern in grown up version as well.

The pattern is available on our website, click here to shop.

 Wish me luck xx
